A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier

This is the most recent book that I have read and found it to be very eye-opening. Rarely do people throughout the world really have the opportunity to see first hand the lifestyle of the youth in western Africa. Beah, throughout the entire book, offers first hand accounts of life as a civilian and eventually as a child soldier in the battlefront. He is extremely lucky to have survived many of the situations that he encountered and his ability to share details of his life is remarkable.

I feel that everyone, at some point, should read this book as it will enable the reader to fully understand a life that we may hear about, but do not fully comprehend.
